Bury Light Night Event Guide: What Can We Expect?

16th October 2015 6.00pm till late

Bury Light Night is quite a unique event and there are people that travel far and wide to come and experience it yet some residents in the local area of Bury and Bolton still haven’t attended or even heard of it!

Well, it’s FREE – That got your attention didn’t it?

It’s actually quite an odd night of entertainment in the sense you might spend a large portion of your time wondering ‘what am I actually watching here?’. Especially when this years theme is Bees and Earthly Lights. Yep the honey-making population is one of the biggest themes this year.

The good news is that there’s plenty on to keep the kids entertained whilst you take advantage of the late night shopping and local performances on at the Met – whether you choose to make a performance of your very own with the help of cocktails and locally brewed ales is entirely up to you.

SO WHAT’S ON?

We’ve curated a list of what not to miss and what we can expect. Some of the events are spread out so it may require a tad of planning to see it all

ILLUMINOS – SEE THE BEES

Castle Armoury, Castle St, Bury BL9 0LB 6.00pm – 9.00pm

Bury will seemingly be buzzing this Light Night as Illuminos return with a bee-autiful projection across three sites in Bury. Bee the Bees, See the Bees and Feed the Bees sees three different elements of the busy buzzy pollinators explored, with viewers controlling the outcomes. Featuring the expertise of Manchester and District Beekeeper’s association you explore the unique relationship with the most industrious of insects. At Castle Armouries the story of the queen bee through the year is animated, making the hive, surviving the seasons, the arrival of spring and the celebration of nectar are played out across the site.

Part 2: FEED THE BEES
Church Gardens (opposite Fusilier Museum)
6.00pm – 9.00pm

Part of a series of three projections across the town. Create your very best flowers and pass them into a flower press, from where they magically bloom on the building – once enough flowers are added, and the bees have collected the nectar, the building produces a pot of honey. The better the flower pictures, the better the honey! Featuring the expertise of Manchester and District Beekeeper’s association we explore our unique relationship with the most industrious of insects.

Part 3: BE THE BEES
Debenhams, The Rock, St Johns Square, Bury, BL9 0JL
6.00pm – 9.00pm

Debenhams becomes a huge bee hive, where you control the dance of the bees through your own movements on the ground – do the dance of the bees and show everyone around you where to find the pollen.
